Going from Crossdresser to Transgender
It may not be New Year's but I have resolved to start blogging more about what is going on with me so here we go.
It has been an interesting journey the last couple of months and really does show that you never know what curve balls life will throw you or what might be a turning point for you.
I have been a typical crossdresser ever since I was a young child. I would dress in private, feel guilty about it, purge then start again at a later point. It was never far from my mind even when I wasn't doing it and in times of severe crisis it was my fall back.
About three years ago I came out to my wife about my crossdressing. Knowing a lot of my past she was not overly surprised and vowed to be as supportive as she could be even though she wasn't happy about it. That was also the point at which I moved out of our bedroom and into the spare room. I can't say that was all that bad a thing as it let me wear a nightgown to bed and gave me a place to keep my clothes.
I was content to be nothing more than a crossdresser and continued to only do it occasionally until recently, and this is where the "you never know" part comes in.
I became involved with Sarnia-Lambton pride and attended the pride events in the middle of August. Because it was quite the distance from my house I had arranged to stay at a female friends house. It was a lot of fun dressing and hanging out with the girls which ended at about 3am. Exhausted from a night of partying I crashed for a few hours.
I awoke at about 6:30am and that was when I realized that I hadn't brought any male clothes with me to change into for the drive home. But as I sat there I also realized that I had no desire to change either. So, with makeup still on from the night before, I put on my pink shorts, camisole and women's running shoes and headed out. I had to stop at the local convenience store and it felt great to just walk in there not hiding it.
That was the turning point that made me decide to start living my life in the gender I felt comfortable with.
Since then I have met with a social worker to explore going on hormones and what the next steps will be. I will be seeing her again in a couple of weeks and it should be interesting. I will be going from a life of drag to drag being my life. My wife and I have officially separated but continue to live together as friends and she is supporting me in this journey.
The one low point is I need to find a job that will be supportive of my transition and so I can afford to buy all the clothing and stuff needed to live as a woman. So, if anyone out there knows of a company that is hiring from the LGBT community and is transgender friendly in Southwestern Ontario, let me know. I have many skills that could be beneficial.

ACT NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!
I am sending this out to all members of the group because it is time to get down to brass tacks, so to speak, in regards to an alluring Affair (http://www.alluringaffair.ca). This is powerful event that is perfect for first timers, couples and experienced cd/tg's but we are have reached crunch time. We have managed to put this off in an attempt to get people to register but we can't do it any longer.
In order to make this an all-inclusive event we have to pay the resort to hold the rooms. The problem is we NEED people to commit before we can go any further with this.
I have received a lot of interest from people about attending this event but people are not putting down the money to commit and I would like to know why? After all, this is a great deal. Just look what it would cost if you were to purchase everything separately. If you were to pay for the rooms separately they would cost $447, the meals anywhere from $160 and up and of course there is the show, dance, with live band, and free workshops. To put all this together separately would cost you a lot more money.
You could, of course, cheap out but aren't you tired of being treated like a second class citizen? I know I am. When you compare it to an event I went to last year that cost me over $300, where I had to stay in a second rate hotel, was served Legion food (for the one meal that was included) and the entertainment was a DJ, I just cannot figure out what the hesitation is.
So here is the bottom line. The resort wants a deposit. We can hold them off for a couple of days but not any longer. So, if we do not see at least 15 people place their $350 deposit by Monday I will have no choice but to close this down. And if that happens I am not sure I will be able to convince my backers to try again next year.
As an incentive, I am also offering a percentage off your registration fee if you recommend us to your friends and they sign up. If two friends sign up, and tell us they learned about the event from you (or your website or your blog, etc.), you get a refund of 5% off your registration fee. Get three to five friends to register and tell us you sent them, and you get 10% off your registration fee. Remind your friends to tell us you sent them!
And everyone who gets even one friend to register, is entered for our great prize draw at the event. Every friend registration gets you one entry into the draw (so if you send two friends, you get two entries, and so on) so the more you tell your friends about this great event, the better your chances of winning!
This is it, you need to act now!! Go to http://www.alluringaffair.ca to register.

CD/TG workshops bring top level talent
This year's workshop series at An Alluring Affair delivers instructors who are at the top of their game. Workshops in voice, movement, dance, make-up and even cooking are offered to attendees at this all-inclusive event scheduled for November 6 - 8.
In response, An Alluring Affair has brought together the highest calibre instructors for their event workshop series.
Voice training will be presented by Scott Pietrangelo, a talented, successful actor, singer, voice coach and fight trainer. Scott is an energetic, amusing instructor whose resume includes both stage and screen. He is a popular entertainer in the Toronto gay district with his one-man shows and cabarets. Scott presents an interesting workshop on how to use your voice to complete your en femme ensemble.
Linda Chan, a popular instructor in movement, sensuality and functioning in high heels brings her enthusiasm for excellence to her movement workshop. A sought after teacher, Linda currently works with the team at Aradia in Toronto.
Kim McDonald brings over 25 years of make-up artistry to this exciting make-up workshop. Kim also has modelling and esthetician experience which enhances her ability to teach attendees how to treat their skin and create a well made-up visual.
The team at Deerhurst Resort, the site of the 2009 An Alluring Affair are also getting into the act. Chef Rory Golden will present a cooking workshop for all the foodies and the dance team from the resort's popular professional Vegas-style show will deliver a dance workshop that combines style and pizzazz. And for those attendees who want to strut their stuff, attendees at this workshop will get to perform in that evening's presentation of the resort's new show, Decades.
For those who do not wish to attend any of these spectacular workshops, the Deerhurst Spa is offering 20% any spa service for those who register before September 1. And the historic town of Huntsville is just a five minute drive for the shopaholics in the crowd.
For more information or to register to attend, visit www.alluringaffair.ca.
Talented workshop presenters Scott, Chef Rory, Linda and Kim will wow you!

Crossdress/transgender Event Secure And Comfortable
An Alluring Affair, scheduled for November 6 - 8, will be held at Deerhurst Resort, the site of the 2010 G8 Summit. Along with this beautiful secure resort as the venue, the event has received supportive comments from the Ontario Premier.
An Alluring Affair, all-inclusive conference for crossdress/transgender
Aug 07, 2009 – While some members of the crossdress, transgender, transsexual and transvestite community are completely out to the general public, the majority still keep their lifestyle choice as a private matter.
An Alluring Affair, an all-inclusive weekend November 6 -8, 2009, of workshops, fabulous food, top-level entertainment and networking, has chosen Deerhurst Resort in the beautiful Muskoka area of Ontario to host the event. The resort is the site of the 2010 G8 Summit, offering a self-enclosed experience for first-timers and all the amenities at the resort for a great weekend. For those who have become more public, the historic town of Huntsville is only five minutes away by car, for shopping trips.
Canada is well-known as a welcoming country, and the Premier of Ontario Dalton McGuinty, shared his personal welcome and that of the provincial government in a letter to the event attendees.
"As Ontarians, we take every opportunity to celebrate our differences and embrace our tremendous diversity - diversity that breathes life into our province and represents one of our greatest assets," the premier wrote. "An Alluring Affair is a reflection of that diversity and of the inclusive society that we have worked hard to create.
"This unique event provides members of the transgendered, transsexual, transvestite and cross-dresser community with the opportunity to attend informative workshops, while enjoying the world-class facilities of Deerhurst Resort, as well as the many attractions of the beautiful Muskoka region," he continued. "I would like to thank the organizers of An Alluring Affair for devoting time and energy to making this event possible."
Workshops being offered include voice and make-up training, dance and movement classes and cooking class. All the workshops are delivered by talent at the top of their field. The meals are designed by the resorts award-winning chef.
"We have put this together as an all-inclusive package so people can come and not have to worry about accommodations," explained Nicolle Robinson, host of the event. "Most events for our community are delivered at venues off-site from any accommodations. With An Alluring Affair, people will have the choice to stay on-site or go into town - nothing will be forced on them in terms of how 'out' they are. In fact, for first-timers there are no expectations for participation or dress. Everyone can decide their comfort level and go from there."
The event has been cited by a number of community members as a perfect opportunity for first-timers, with mentors in the community available to support and guide.
For more details on the event or to register to attend, visit www.alluringaffair.ca.
